Frog Of The Month
This Month's Featured Frog is:
Slovenian Green Toad
Dusan of Slovenia sent in this great photo of a green toad (Bufo viridis).
Dusan is a school teacher. He found the toad last summer in a field and showed it to his class the next day.
He writes:
"no one wanted to believe that toads with such unusual colors live in our fields. It
was first time that anyone had found that species of toad in my part of
Slovenia. A lot of pupils didn't want to touch the commom toad (Bufo bufo) in
class while we were learning about amphibians, but almost everyone want to have this
toad on their hand!
After a few days we returned the frog back to nature."
More about the green toad and other slovenian amphibians (for now it's all in slovene language) can be found on Dusan's Homepage
